Adobe Premiere Pro integrates AI tools into editing workflow

Adobe is making it simpler for video editors to use artificial intelligence features within its Premiere Pro software. The company has introduced a new Generative Media tool that integrates AI directly into the project timeline, allowing editors to create video, sound effects, music, and soundscapes without leaving their current work.

This update means that instead of switching between different apps or browsers to find missing footage or audio, editors can now select an empty spot on their timeline and generate context-aware, editable clips on the spot. Users can choose from several underlying models, including Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Runway, Luma, and Kling, to match their project's style.

Premiere Pro is also gaining new AI audio tools, currently in beta. These tools can separate overlapping speakers, automatically reduce music volume when speech is present, and adjust dialogue and ambient sounds independently. Additionally, Adobe is bringing its AI Assistant to After Effects, also in beta, which will allow editors to use plain language commands to organise projects, fix technical issues, and create effects without needing to write code.

Why this matters to you:

This is about streamlining workflows for those creating video content, whether for events, marketing, or internal communications. If you or your team use Premiere Pro, these changes mean less time spent searching for assets and more time focused on creative editing. The ability to generate elements directly within the timeline could significantly speed up production, making it easier to fill gaps or experiment with different creative options. For those producing event sizzle reels, promotional videos, or on-site content, this could offer a practical advantage by reducing the need for external asset libraries and simplifying the creative process.
